Town of LaSalle By-law

By-law No: 6197

Description:  A By-law to prohibit the obstructing, encumbering, injuring or fouling of highways or bridges within the Town of LaSalle.

Date Passed:  March 12, 2002

WHEREAS Section 314(1) of the Municipal Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. M.45, as amended, provides that Councils of all municipalities may pass By-laws to prohibit or regulate the obstructing, encumbering, injuring or fouling of highways or bridges;

AND WHEREAS it is deemed expedient to prohibit the obstructing or encumbering of highways or bridges within the Town of LaSalle;

NOW THEREFORE THE COUNCIL OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWN OF LASALLE HEREBY ENACTS AS FOLLOWS:

  1. No person shall obstruct or encumber any part of any highway or bridge within the Town of LaSalle by placing or permitting to be placed on any part of such a highway or bridge any equipment, trailers, construction materials, landscaping materials, debris or other items, goods or materials of any kind whatsoever.
     

  2. No owner or occupant of any land abutting any highway or bridge within the Town of LaSalle shall obstruct or encumber, or permit the obstruction or encumbrance, of any part of any abutting highway or bridge by placing or permitting the placement of any equipment, trailers, construction materials, landscaping materials, debris or other items, goods or materials of any kind whatsoever on the said abutting highway or bridge.
     

  3. Nothing in this By-law shall be deemed to prohibit the lawful parking of any car or truck on any highway or bridge in accordance with the provisions of the By-laws of The Corporation of the Town of LaSalle.
     

  4. Any person who contravenes any of the provisions of this By-law shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable, upon conviction, to a penalty not exceeding $5,000.00 for each offence, exclusive of costs, which penalty and costs shall be recoverable under the provisions of the Provincia1 Offences Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. P.33, as amended.
     

  5. This By-law shall take effect on the final passing thereof.
