Town of LaSalle By-law
By-law No: 6311
Description: A By-law to regulate the
growing of noxious weeds on vacant parcels of land within the Town
of LaSalle.
Date Passed: June 10, 2003
WHEREAS Section 130 of the Municipal Act 2001,
S.O. 2001, Chapter 25 as amended, authorizes a municipality to
regulate matters not specifically provided for by that Act or any
other Act for purposes related to the health, safety and well being
of its inhabitants;
AND WHEREAS by virtue of the existence of many
old registered plans of subdivision within the Town of LaSalle,
there exist a number of parcels of vacant land where the property
owners permit noxious weeds to grow without regard to the affects of
these weeds on the health and well-being of the inhabitants in the
area;
AND WHEREAS despite the fact that many of these
parcels of vacant land are far enough away from any land used for
agricultural or horticultural purposes that the noxious weeds
thereon do not interfere with those uses, the health and well-being
of the inhabitants in the area of these parcels of vacant land are
negatively affected by the unfettered growth of these noxious weeds;
AND WHEREAS Section 427 of the Municipal Act,
2001 authorizes a municipality to enter upon land to do a matter or
thing on behalf of the property owner under certain terms and
conditions;
AND WHEREAS it is deemed expedient by the
Corporation to regulate the growth of noxious weeds on vacant
