Water Quality These reports are prepared in compliance with Section 12, Ontario Regulation 459 - Drinking Water Protection, as approved under the Ontario Water Resource Act (R.S.O. 2000). Prepared by the Town of LaSalle Environmental Services Department with data supplied by the Ontario Clean Water Agency (O.C.W.A). Further information on the Ontario Drinking Water Regulation 459/00 can be found on the Ministry of the Environment's web site at www.ene.gov.on.ca Annual Report - Drinking Water System January 1, 2009 to December 31, 2009 (pdf) Annual Report - Drinking Water System January 1, 2008 to December 31, 2008 (pdf) Annual Report - Drinking Water System January 1, 2007 to December 31, 2007 (pdf) Annual Report - Drinking Water Systems January 1, 2006 to December 31, 2006 (pdf) City of Windsor Annual Water Report for 2006 (pdf) Annual Report - Drinking Water Systems January 1, 2005 to December 31, 2005 (pdf) Annual Report - Drinking Water Systems January 1, 2004 to December 31, 2004 (pdf) Annual Report - Drinking Water Systems January 1, 2003 to December 31, 2003 (pdf) Quarterly Report/Analytical Test Results October 1, 2003 to December 31, 2003 (pdf) Quarterly Report/Analytical Test Results July 1, 2003 to September 30, 2003 (pdf) Quarterly Report/Analytical Test Results April 1, 2003 to June 30, 2003 (pdf) Quarterly Report/Analytical Test Results January 1, 2003 to March 31, 2003 (pdf) Quarterly Report/Analytical Test Results October 1, 2002 to December 31, 2002 (pdf) Quarterly Report/Analytical Test Results July 1, 2002 to September 30, 2002 (pdf) Quarterly Report/Analytical Test Results April 1, 2002 to June 30, 2002 (pdf) Quarterly Report/Analytical Test Results January 1,2002 to March 31, 2002 (pdf) Quarterly Report/Analytical Test Results July 1, 2001 to September 30, 2001 (pdf) Quarterly Report/Analytical Test Results April 1, 2001 to June 30, 2001 (pdf) Quarterly Report/Analytical Test Results January 1, 2001 to March 31, 2001 (pdf) Quarterly Report October 1, 2000 to December 31, 2000 (pdf) Analytical Test Results October 1, 2000 to December 31, 2000 (pdf) Definitions, Abbreviations and Terms MAC - Maximum Acceptable Concentration This is a health-related standard established for parameters which when present above a certain concentration, have known or suspected adverse health effects. The length of time the MAC can be exceeded without injury to health will depend on the nature and concentration of the parameter. (Ontario Drinking Water Standards. Ministry of the Environment. Revised January 2001. PIBS #4065e. Page 2.) IMAC - Interim Maximum Acceptable Concentration. This is a health-related standard established for parameters either when there are insufficient toxicological data to establish a MAC with reasonable certainty, or when it is not feasible to establish a MAC at the desired level. (Ontario Drinking Water Standards. Ministry of the Environment. Revised January 2001. PIBS #4065e. Page 2.) mg/L - milligrams per litre (parts per million) CFU/100 mL - Colony Forming Units per 100 millilitres of sample < - Less than > - Greater than Microbiological parameters (i.e.. bacteria) The source of bacteria may come from wastewater treatment plants, livestock operations, septic systems and wildlife. Microbiological analysis is the most important aspect of drinking water quality due to its association with dangerous water-borne diseases. (Paraphrased from Ontario Drinking Water Standards. Ministry of the Environment. Revised January 2001. PIBS #4065e.) Total Coli-form Bacteria The group of bacteria that is the most commonly used indicator of water quality. The presence of these bacteria in a water sample indicates inadequate filtration and / or disinfection. (Ontario Drinking Water Standards. Ministry of the Environment. Revised January 2001. PIBS #4065e. Page 44.) Fecal Coli-form Bacteria A sub-group of Coli-form Bacteria. Fecal coli-forms should not be detected in any treated drinking water. Escherichia coli is the fecal coli-form most frequently associated with recent fecal pollution. The presence of fecal coli-forms in drinking water is an indication of sewage contamination. (Ontario Drinking Water Standards. Ministry of the Environment. Revised January 2001. PIBS #4065e. Page 35.) Background Count The bacterial content in water which can be used to measure water quality deterioration in distribution systems. (Ministry of Environment. Method MFMICRO - E3371.)
