Discover a Summer of Fun at the Vollmer Summer Discovery Day Camp At the Vollmer Centre, we take pride in our ability to provide an exciting summer experience. Please take a look at our unique features. We are confident that our facilities, our staff, and the activities that we provide will give your child the best possible summer day camp experience. Our program focuses on youth development and specific life skills such as cooperation, respect, problem solving, sportsmanship and more.

Scheduled activities will run between 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Upon registration, parents will be given a calendar outlining activities, events and field trips*. Lunch is included each Friday. Prices are inclusive.
*Participants MUST be registered for a minimum of two days per week in order to register for field trip days. Single day registrations will NOT be accepted on field trip days.
 

Our Facilities

  • Why attend our summer camp? Our facility is situated on 189 acres and features a pool, 2 NHL size ice rinks, 22 soccer fields, a skateboard park, mountain bike trail, a retention pond, walking/biking trails, playground and much more!

  • Air-conditioned building for those extra hot days.

  • We have our own pool featuring a beach entry, waterslide, wave action and a lazy river! Our pool is governed and monitored by the Ontario Public Pool Regulations to ensure safe operations.

Our Staff

  • All of our Counselors are certified in High Five Principles of Healthy Child Development, Standard First Aid, CPR-C and Automated External Defibrillation.

  • All of our Lifeguards are fully certified by the Life Saving Society and participate in extensive pre-season training.

  • All Counselors have several years of experience. All our staff participates in an extensive training program before camp starts.

  • All staff take part in a full orientation program including an Annual Emergency Training Day held prior to the start of Summer Day Camp.

  • Many of the Counselors have taught, trained and/or observed children for at least one year or have taken such programs as Child and Youth Worker and Early Childhood Education.

  • All our Assistant Counselors are enthusiastic, responsible, and they are chosen because they relate well with children of all ages.

Lunches, Snacks and Drinks - The Discovery Day Camp is a peanut free camp!

  • Lunches, snacks and drinks must be provided every day.

  • Lunch tickets are available for $5.25 per day, or purchase a Pack of 11 tickets for $52.50 (that’s like getting one free lunch!). Lunch tickets can be used Monday to Thursday (lunch is included every Friday). The menu will be included with the calendar you receive at the time of registration.

  • Our menus are kid friendly and parent friendly; including such things as grilled cheese, pancakes, pizza and hot dogs complete with a healthy side and juice or water.

  • All of our meals are prepared on-site daily and served in our concession area. Food service staff are certified in Safe Food Handling.

  • Lunch tickets cannot be used on field trip days. Lunches and snacks must be provided on all field trip days.

Our Program

  • Free before and after camp care (7:30 am - 5:30 pm). The program runs from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm.

  • Security for our children is of utmost importance; this is why we have a secure identification system for each child/family.

  • Discovery Day Camp is the only day camp in the area that offers indoor swimming and skating in the same facility. Swimming will be offered 3 days a week** and will include the instruction of water survival skills and structured activities and games along with recreational swimming.

  • We implement daily physical activity to ensure our campers are staying healthy and physically fit.

  • Scheduled electives where you and your child choose from a variety of activities to attend for a portion of the morning.

  • Well supervised field trips. NOTE: Participants MUST be registered for a minimum of two days the week of the field trip in order to register for field trips.

Discovery Day Camp

Discover a summer of fun! Swimming, skating, sports, arts and crafts, special electives and theme based days are just some of the planned activities.

Discount:
After the first child is registered, there is a 10% discount for each additional child from the same household. This discount is available for children attending Discovery Day Camp and My First Day Camp for a full week. Discounts are not available for individual days or Specialty Camp registration.

Registration Policies

Payment
Payments received at Town Hall can be in the form of cheque, cash, credit card or debit. However, debit and credit cards are unavailable during registration times at Holy Cross Elementary School. Cheques should be made payable to the Town of LaSalle. Cheques returned NSF will be subject to a $20.00 administration charge.

Course Cancellations
To avoid inconvenience to registrants, it may be necessary to cancel courses with low registration numbers, so don’t wait and avoid disappointment: register early.

Refunds, Withdrawals, Transfers
Any missed classes cannot be made up, and do not qualify for a refund (applies to swimming classes and all programs). Classes interrupted by inclement weather, power failure, building evacuation, mechanical difficulties and/or pool fouling will not be refunded but where possible a make-up class will be offered. If the Town of LaSalle cancels a program, a full refund will be issued. The Town may cancel a program due to insufficient registration.

Refunds, withdrawals or transfer requests for programs must be made in-person. If the request to withdraw from a program is received prior to the first class, a full refund will be given, however, a $10.00 administration charge will apply. Once the program begins, the refund will be pro-rated based on the date of the request for the refund (even if no class has been attended), and a $10.00 administration fee will apply. Participants may transfer to another program as long as there is a space available, and the participant meets all of the requirements.

Payments made by credit card (MasterCard or Visa) or by debit will be refunded by the method of payment.

Credit will not be left on account after a cancellation. The payment will be refunded by one of the methods described above. Payments made by cash or cheque will be refunded by cheque. This process takes 3-4 weeks; the cheque will be mailed to your home address.

Funding Available
Families receiving the National Child Benefit Supplement (NCBS) may be eligible for affordable fees for children’s programs (17 and under). For more information please contact 519-969-7771.

Special Notice
Due to scheduled school and community events, there will be cancellations, however, these dates will be posted. Classes will be notified and make-up dates will be scheduled.

Photographs
In order to publicize its programs, the Department of Culture and Recreation may take photos of people involved in various programs. These photos will be used in Culture & Recreation publications, they are not for sale. If you do not wish your child to be photographed, please inform us in writing. Our facilities are open to the public and frequently media personnel visit unannounced to take photos. If your child is a participant in our programs and you do not want his/her photo published, please inform the staff during registration. We will make every effort possible to ensure that your child is not photographed by visiting media.
