POOL CLOSURES
The pool may close at an inopportune time due to a pool fouling, power failure, mechanical or maintenance problem. If this should occur during lessons, instructors will use the time on land to focus on water safety. Cancelled lessons cannot be made up.
A POOL FOULING WILL CAUSE A CLOSURE OF OUR POOL ANYWHERE FROM 1 – 12 HOURS
Here are some healthy habits you can take to help stop the spread of germs and reduce the number of closures at our pool:
Feed your children at least one hour before swimming •
Wash your body thoroughly with soap and water before swimming •
Take your kids to the bathroom before swimming •
Children not toilet trained must wear swim diapers made for swimming pool use. These are available to purchase at the front desk. •
Wash your hands with soap and water after using the toilet or after changing diapers •
Do not spit in the pool •
So not swim when you have diarrhea or are feeling sick. This is especially important for children in diapers.
Children under the age of 7 MUST be supervised by a responsible person 16 years of age or older. Direct Supervision is… Within Arm’s Reach – IN THE WATER;
One responsible person, aged 16 years or older may assume responsibility for up to 3 swimmers;
Swimmers must meet the following requirements before they may swim without the direct supervision of a responsible person 16 years of age or older: Be a Minimum of 7 Years of Age AND Meet a Minimum Skills Test;
Children ages 7-16 years may be asked to prove proficiency and if unable, they will be asked to exit the swim area unless accompaniment can be provided;
Slide participants must be at least 7 years of age and 42” tall;
All children under the age of 10 must be directly supervised by a parent or guardian while in the facility.
The Vollmer Centre offers three change-rooms; women’s, men’s and family. At the age of 7 a child must use their gender appropriate change-room or the family change-room if accompanied by a guardian of the opposite gender.
Proper Swim Wear Required
Serious Medical Conditions:
Individuals with a serious medical condition should be accompanied by an individual knowledgeable of their condition and responsible for their direct supervision. The use of lifejackets is strongly recommended for people who experience seizures.
Fouling Prevention:
Please note that cloth or regular diapers are not permitted in our pools. We recommend “Huggies Swim Pants”, “Gabbies”, or “Pampers Little Swimmers”.
Showering:
Showering before you enter the pool will keep it clean for your swimming experience. We also ask that shoes not be worn in the shower area or on the pool deck as Health Regulations require these areas to be kept clean and disinfected.
